Snowmaking Begins at Boreal

Media Contact: Jon Slaughter Boreal Mountain Resort 530.386.3388 MEDIA ALERT October 19, 2010 Snowmaking Begins at Boreal Donner Summit, CA, (October 19, 2010) – Boreal Mountain Resort started its snowmaking operation today at XX a.m. The forecast is calling for small windows of cold temperatures dropping into the upper-twenties over the course of the next XX hours allowing for a test of the enhanced snowmaking system at Boreal. Boreal will continue blowing snow as conditions permit. “Our goal is always to get our guests on-snow as early as possible. Halloween has traditionally been the target, but we are hoping to open earlier if conditions permit.” said Jon Slaughter, Marketing Director at Boreal. “Time will tell, but there looks like some promising weather in this weeks’ forecast” he added. This summer Boreal Mountain Operations crew completed a 3-year, $1.6 million upgrade to the snowmaking system. Fifteen new snow guns were added to the mountain this summer, adding more snowmaking fire-power on a top-to-bottom run, and expansions on two lower mountain trails.
