Record Setting Snowfall at Boreal

Media Contact: Jon Slaughter Boreal Mountain Resort 530.426.3666 x184 IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 22, 2010 Record Setting Snowfall at Boreal Donner Summit, CA, (December 22, 2010) - A major Sierra storm unloaded snow atop Donner Summit over the past week. Boreal received 90” – 112” of snowfall over the past seven days. The recent snowfall takes the season’s combined snowfall totals for the months of November and December to 333”. Far surpassing the 30-year record of 225” set in 1994. Boreal recently received 112” on top of the 57” which had already fallen in December. Combine that with the astounding 164” of snowfall during November for a total snowfall of 333”, beating the 1994 record by 108”. (November’s 164” snowfall was also a record setting month) “The amount of snow we have seen this season is incredible. I have never seen the snow banks as tall this early in the season,” said Jon Slaughter, Boreal Marketing Director. “With the holiday season just around the corner, our customers are going to be in for a treat during their ski vacations.” The snow base at Boreal has increased to 82” – 125”, providing ample coverage on the 41 trails accessed by 6 chairlifts. “The snow conditions could not be better,” stated Shaydar Edelmann, Boreal Mountain Operations Manager. “We do not generally see this type of snow coverage until February or March.” Boreal is open 7 days/week from 9am – 9pm, including December 24th and 25th. Snow tubing at Boreal’s Playland Tubing Park is also available daily from 10am – 8pm through January 1, 2011.
