New Snow Opens New Terrain at Boreal

Donner Summit, CA, (December 14, 2012) – Over the past 48 hours Boreal Mountain Resort has received over 15 inches of fresh snowfall allowing the mountain operations team to expand terrain and schedule new lifts.  The resort is currently offering skiing/riding on over 90% of available trails and has scheduled two new lifts for Friday, December 14, 2012.

Boreal will add two lifts, the Cedar Ridge triple and 49er triple chairs, to the daily schedule for the first time this season.  The lifts will be in addition to the Kids Club moving carpet, Playland Tubing carpet, Nugget double chair, Castle Peak Quad and Accelerator Express Quad.  Open from 9am – 9pm, Boreal is now providing access to 33 trails including 13 groomed runs with one terrain park including 18 features.  With continued snowfall in the forecast, which could amount to several feet, the operations team hopes to also open the Lost Dutchman triple before December 23rd.

Lift tickets are valid from 9am – 9pm; $52 for adults, $42 for teens and $20 for children (all rates subject to increase during holiday periods).  Boreal also offers night lift tickets for $26 for teens/adults and $20 for children valid from 3:30pm – 9pm.  Snow tubing is also at Boreal’s Playland Tubing Park accessed via moving carpet, $25 for 2 hours.  Tubing will be offered 10am – 8pm during the holidays.  Full base area services are available day and night.

“This round of storms could not have come at a better time for Boreal since Christmas is right around the corner,” stated Jon Slaughter, Boreal Marketing Director.  “The fresh snow is going to energize skiers and snowboarders, plus provide terrific conditions over the holidays.”  The upcoming holiday period represents 30% of Boreal’s budgeted skier visits for the entire season.

“The holiday season presents a great opportunity to introduce Woodward Tahoe to a large percentage of the Boreal customer base,” added Jody Churich, Boreal & Woodward Tahoe General Manager.  “Once our guests see what we have built, they are going to be blown away.”  Woodward Tahoe is open daily from 11am – 8pm, offering training for snowboarding/skiing, skateboarding, BMX, digital media and tumbling.  Woodward Tahoe is now offering the new Ride with Woodward program; an innovative ski/ride school with freestyle influences taught in both indoor and outdoor environments.  Visit for more information.

Operations including lifts and hours are subject to change due to wind and weather.  Please visit for up to the minute information.
