October 24, 2010

Media Contact: Jon Slaughter Boreal Mountain Resort 530.426.3666 x184 jons@borealski.com IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 25, 2010 Boreal Mountain Resort Begins Snowmaking Donner Summit, CA, (October 25, 2010) - Boreal Mountain Resort began its snowmaking operations at 5:30am, October 25, 2010 marking another season of early snowmaking efforts. Traditionally snowmaking season happens in October at Boreal, and the current cold weather provided by the low pressure system combined with Boreal’s upgraded snowmaking system has allowed the snowmaking crew to begin work. Laying down a snow base for the upcoming ski and snowboard season is not the only reason Boreal has fired up the snowmaking system. Over the past three years Boreal has invested $1.6 million into a three-phase snowmaking system upgrade which is now complete. The recent cold weather has provided optimal conditions for testing the completed system and preparing for yet another early opening in the process. Additionally, snow will be produced for the regions only on-snow early season ski/snowboard event, Boreal’s 6th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational (JPI.6). Event date TBD, JPI.6 will be a celebration of early season fun with a full terrain park, giveaways, cash prizes and more. “We have the technology for great snowmaking and now since we have the weather we will be working around the clock to open Boreal for the season,” said Eric Rosenwald, Snowmaking Manager at Boreal. Long range forecasts show a La Nina pattern which can have an active jet stream dipping down into the Pacific & Northern California with above normal snowfall. “The forecast looks very promising for another great ski and snowboard season in Northern California,” said Jody Churich, General Manager at Boreal. Boreal’s Last Chance Season Pass Sale ends October 31, 2010. This is your last opportunity to save up to 30% off your season pass for the 2010/2011 season. In most cases after 6 days on-snow your pass has paid for itself. Always the first to open in the area, your pass could be paid-off before another Tahoe resort even opens.
